What is AI music distribution? The 2026 beginner's guide
TL;DR
AI music distribution = sending your AI-generated track (Suno, Udio, MusicGen, etc.) to streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and TikTok, with the correct AI-disclosure metadata so DSPs don't take it down. A distributor handles the DDEX-formatted delivery, ISRC/UPC codes, royalty collection and payouts to you.
What you need before you start
- An audio file — WAV preferred, 16-bit / 44.1 kHz minimum (most AI tools export this).
- Cover art — 3000 × 3000 px JPG or PNG, no copyrighted imagery.
- Artist & track metadata — stage name, title, genre, release date.
- An account with an AI-friendly distributor like DistributeMusic.AI.
- Don't copy copyrighted material — AI tools can sometimes echo training data; double-check.
- Always tag voice clones — vocal cloning needs explicit consent.
- Pick the right genre — 'AI' isn't a genre; pick the closest musical one (e.g. Electronic, Pop, Lo-Fi).
That's it. No label, no studio, no manager required.
The 5-step distribution flow
Step 1 — Generate or upload your track
Generate one in our AI Studio (text-to-song) or upload a Suno/Udio/MusicGen export.
Step 2 — Add cover art + metadata
Drag in your 3000×3000 cover, fill artist name + title + genre + release date.
Step 3 — Pick platforms
Select from Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Amazon, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer + 140 more. We default-select the top 10.
Step 4 — AI-disclosure (auto-handled)
DistributeMusic.AI flips the AI flag in the DDEX delivery automatically. You don't need to do anything.
Step 5 — Submit
Our QC team reviews within 24h. Once approved, Spotify is live in 2–4 days, Apple in 1–2 days, TikTok ~7 days.
How royalties work
Each time someone streams your track, the DSP credits a tiny royalty (e.g. $0.004 per Spotify stream). The distributor aggregates these monthly reports, and you withdraw earnings from your dashboard to PayPal, Stripe Connect or bank transfer once you hit $5.
