Voice-controlled music distribution: how to release a song hands-free in 2026
Why voice matters for music distribution
If you produce music, your keyboard is usually locked into your DAW — Ableton, FL Studio, Logic — with a MIDI controller in one hand and a mouse in the other. The last thing you want to do at 2 AM when you've just finished a track is Alt-Tab into a browser, click through a 10-field release wizard, and re-type your artist name for the 47th time.
DistributeMusic.AI's new voice-enabled Distro AI solves that. Tap the mic in the floating chat, say a single line — "release a new song called Midnight Reverb" — and Distro handles the rest.
How the voice pipeline works
- Tap the mic button in Distro AI (bottom-right of every artist page or on the /support chat).
- Distro tries the browser's built-in Web Speech API first — it's instant, free, and runs on-device in Chrome, Edge and Safari (with permission). Your dictation appears in the input box in real time as you speak.
- If your browser doesn't support Web Speech (older Firefox, some embedded browsers), Distro falls back to recording a short audio clip via
MediaRecorder, uploads it to our backend, and transcribes with OpenAI Whisper — accuracy is state-of-the-art but adds ~1-2 s of latency. - Once transcribed, the text populates the input box. You can edit it before hitting Send, so you're never at the mercy of a bad transcript.
- "Release a new song called Ocean Dreams"
- "Distribute my new track — call it Late Train Keys"
- "Ship this one as Neon Waves, feat. Nova on vocals"
- "New single, title's Sunday Pause, genre is lo-fi hip-hop"
- "Change my usual genre to house" (updates your saved default)
- "Generate a cover for it — cyberpunk tokyo vibe"
- Post-production sessions where your hands are busy
- Bulk-releasing 5-10 Suno / Udio tracks in one sitting
- Mobile (voice on a phone keyboard is much faster than typing)
- Accessibility — artists with limited fine-motor control
- If you need to include a long collaborator list or lyric-attribution details, typing is still quicker
- If you're editing complex metadata mid-flow, typing lets you cursor-jump
- Web Speech API (default path): your voice is processed by your browser's built-in engine. On Chrome/Edge that's Google's cloud service; on Safari it's on-device (iOS 17+) or Apple's servers. DistributeMusic.AI never sees the raw audio.
- Whisper fallback path: we upload the short audio clip to our backend, send it to OpenAI Whisper for transcription, then discard the audio blob immediately (nothing stored). We never re-use your voice data for model training.
What you can say to Distro AI
Distro understands natural language, so you don't need to memorize commands. If it's unsure it'll ask a follow-up question, still voice-in-voice-out.

Setup
Nothing to install. Voice is on by default for every DistributeMusic.AI account. Look for the mic icon inside the Distro AI floating chat on your dashboard, or on the /support page. First tap will ask for microphone permission — grant once, use forever.

Still on DistroKid or TuneCore? They don't have voice. They don't remember your defaults either. That's a five-minute release every single time. Life's too short. Switch to DistributeMusic.AI →
