Spotify's AI music policy in 2026: disclosure, spam filter & impersonation rules
Does Spotify allow AI music?
Yes. Spotify has said publicly that it doesn't ban AI-assisted music. What it fights is spam, impersonation and deception. If you release original songs, disclose how AI was used and don't flood the platform, your music is welcome.
Rule 1 — Disclose AI through your distributor
Spotify supports the industry DDEX standard for AI disclosures, which lets distributors state how AI was used — for vocals, instrumentation or post-production. On DistributeMusic.AI you just turn on Made with AI and add your AI tool link; we send the disclosure with the delivery.
Our AI scanner checks every upload. If a song scores as AI-generated but was marked as human-made, it's rejected before it reaches Spotify — protecting your artist profile.
Rule 2 — Don't trigger the spam filter
Spotify's music spam filter targets behaviour like:
- Mass uploads of near-identical tracks
- Very short tracks made to farm royalties
- Duplicate songs under different titles or artist names
- SEO-stuffed titles and fake "type beat" metadata
Release fewer, better songs. Give each release real artwork, a real title, and a release date at least a week out.
Rule 3 — No impersonation
Unauthorised voice clones of real artists are removed. So is uploading music to another artist's profile. When you release with us you pick or create your own Spotify artist profile, so the song lands in the right place.
Rule 4 — Clean, honest metadata
- Your real legal name as composer and lyricist (not a stage name)
- The correct version (Original, Remix, Cover…)
- The right explicit flag
- A title that matches the cover
How to grow an AI artist on Spotify
- Pitch your song in Spotify for Artists 7+ days before release.
- Share your smart link and Instagram story card on release day.
- Release consistently — every 3–6 weeks beats 20 songs in one day.
- Build a real identity: profile photo, bio, Canvas videos.
Summary
AI is allowed; deception isn't. Disclose, stay original, avoid spam behaviour — and your songs stay up.
